Top 10 for King’s Hall Runners in Annual Larkman Cup
In the penultimate week of term, 27 King’s Hall pupils took part in the Larkman Cup cross-country fixture at Blundell’s School.
In the competition, there were six separate races, the U9 boys and U9 girls, U11 boys and U11 girls, and the U13 boys and U13 girls. It was great to see so many children taking part in the event, and all of the teams performed exceptionally. Their hard work in the lead up to the event was reflected in their distance and pace, as well as a number of strong finishes.
The King’s Loop – a challenging yet enjoyable 2.5k run around the school grounds – provided the perfect practise for the pupils, and really helped to boost their endurance.
Special mention must go to the following children who finished within the Top 10:
Charlie Sidhu (1st); Kendra Druce (1st); Lexie Wallace (3rd); Katie Rowe (4th); Nicolas Du Toit (5th); Oscar Mack (8th); and Barnie Gothard (10th).
Director of Sport, Ali Halls, said: “The running was brilliant, but I was most impressed by the camaraderie shown between the pupils. Some of the older pupils, who were a little more experienced, walked the course and imparted valuable advice to the younger children.”
He added: “The younger runners then took it upon themselves to hand out cups of squash to the older children as they finished their races. This was certainly the definition of teamwork.”
