Snoops Enjoys a Healthy Holiday to Cornwall
Here at King’s Hall, we are always on the lookout for new ways to promote healthy eating – whether it’s through our catering initiatives, school curriculum, or even just a trip to the local supermarket.
However, it’s fair to say that there is one individual who helps to spread the message loud and clear. Snoops, our adorable boarding dog, as we speak, is lapping up the coastal views in sunny Cornwall. In-between his numerous sunbathing sessions, games of beach volleyball, and general summer mishaps, he checked in to give us an update on his ‘fairly healthy’ holiday.
I’m having the best time in Cornwall. I’ve met friends, old and new, topped up my tan, and most importantly, consumed lots of delicious food. The weather has been spectacular, so I’ve been enjoying my meals alfresco. I’ve also been exercising daily – and by “exercising” I mean swooping in to snaffle the odd sandwich.
I’ll admit, I’m not the best of swimmers, but I’ve enjoyed regular dips in the sea. Now that my fur is all salty and matted, I’m told I have quite the “surfer look.” I don’t know whether to take that as a compliment or not, however, I’m assured that it’s “cool”.
As always, my Butternut Box meals have come with me and are safely stored in the freezer to ensure they are fresh. My favourite is ‘Wham Bam Lamb’ – it is absolutely delicious and is packed with lots of healthy ingredients. My second favourite is ‘Beef it Up’, because who doesn’t enjoy a succulent steak? In-between meals I enjoy the odd treat, and I get rewarded for good recall, fetch and walking to heel. And on very special occasions, my treats include cocktail sausages (my favourite), gluten free biscuits, and sometimes tasty duck bites (yummy!).
You may think I’m being a fussy pup, having gluten free biscuits, but I have a genuine wheat allergy. Luckily for me though, Butternut Box produces meals that are free from gluten, cereals, and other artificial additives and preservatives. That is why I like to think of myself as a healthy pup! However, … just like most humans, I have had a couple of holiday indulgences. Call them “moments of weakness,” if you will. Burgers, hot dogs, bread rolls, you name it. It’s all about balance, people!
Wishing you all a wonderful summer!
Lots of love,
P.S Don’t forget your five a day! J
