Reception Curriculum | King's Hall School Taunton

Reception Curriculum

Come rain or shine, whether it's Woodland Adventures, Pelican Explorers or #ForestSchool sessions, our 'Little Wood… - a week ago

Each term our topics and focus will change. We will develop the children’s own personal interests through ongoing observations, and they will continue their learning journey through the seven areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum which are as follows:

Prime Areas

Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Physical Development
Communication and Language

Specific Areas

Understanding of the World
Expressive Arts and Design

Trips out are popular, and the children enjoy visiting places such as Noah's Ark, and We the Curious in Bristol

Our literacy will focus on a different book each term, and our learning will be enhanced further by marking various annual days of culture, such as Chinese New Year.

Throughout the year we hold Learning Diary meetings, but we are always on hand should you wish to come and discuss what your child has been doing in school – we know they are often reluctant to share information about their day at school! Please also encourage your child to bring in items of interest from home – they do not need to be topic related. It will enable us to get to know your child better and to understand their individual interests.

We hope you are enjoying Tapestry as much as we are. Please do add your own observations and comments as it’s wonderful for us to see what your children get up to at home! We can’t always reply, but we do enjoy receiving your comments.

General Information

Please take note of our Proud Clouds so that we can celebrate your child’s achievements at home. You will find these in the cloakroom. Homework will be sent home each day except Wednesdays.
