What is Pelican Explorers?

What is Pelican Explorers?

Pelican Explorers is an outdoor learning programme, primarily aimed at children aged 3-4. These fun sessions are located in our 'Little Wood', and led by Nursery Assistant, Mrs Clare Wrelton. The idea is to enable pre-school children the opportunity to socialise and learn through child-initiated play. While we suggest these sessions are more suited to children aged 3 to 4, we do have children as young as 18 months join the sessions if they are sturdy on their feet!

Activities are often themed around the seasons and special days such as Halloween. We love building campfires and have been known to toast the odd marshmallows or smores, accompanied by hot chocolate (loved by parents as well as children!). Other popular activities include (careful) pumpkin carving, autumn leaf art, woodland dogs from logs, and planting runner beans and other seasonal vegetables.

The sessions are perfect for little ones who love the great outdoors!

The Pelican Explorers programme is overseen by Mrs Claire Luckhurst. Claire is the Head of Pre-Prep at King's Hall School and has over 20 years of experience in the early years sector.

Pelican Pioneers

Pelican Pioneers

The sky is the limit for our Pelican Pioneers, who, in our specially designed Forest School areas known as ‘Little Wood' and 'Big Wood' are able to embrace their inner-explorers. Our secluded woodlands prove the perfect playground in which children are free to enjoy activities such as den building, tree climbing, animal petting, and outdoor cooking.

These sessions usually take place on Tuesdays from 10am to 11.30am.

Pelican Playgroup

Pelican Playgroup

Pelican Playgroup provides opportunities for little hands to explore, create and get messy, and for little minds to question and be curious. Until October half-term, we will be based in Little Woods making the most of the beautiful autumn days, and then head inside when the weather turns colder.

If your child likes creating, playing, exploring, singing and having fun, this is all on the menu!

Come and join us on Wednesdays from 10am to 11.30am.
