North Petherton U11s Enjoy Rugby Session at King's Hall
On Saturday 5 December, in wet and very cold conditions, 12 young players from North Petherton RFC U11 squad joined Director of Sport at King’s Hall, Ali Halls, and sports coach Alex Barrow for a fun rugby session.
Focusing on fun and participation, touch games and a kicking competition, the players had a really great time and approached the session with real positivity and energy despite the cold weather.
Joining them were Neil Berryman and David Murray, both coaches at North Petherton, who chatted with the King’s Hall staff and took away a few ideas to use in future club training sessions.
Commenting afterwards, Ali Halls said: “What a fantastic bunch of players. They were fantastic – real ambassadors for their club. Alex and I were really impressed with them all. They demonstrated great teamwork, and obviously play well together. A couple of players really stood out and we would welcome them joining us for our 11+ scholarships next year.”
He added: “We’d like to thank North Petherton for coming along and to North Petherton RFC General Manager, Sharon Sweet, for helping to organise the event. We’re already looking forward to planning the next one … perhaps in better weather!”
Adding to this, U11 coach, Neil Berryman, said: “Ali and Alex put together a fantastic training session that catered to the skills and abilities of our players, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all the team. The games were constantly adapted, with a lot of input from the children, to promote rugby's principles of play and everyone came away from the session not only having enjoyed themselves but having picked up some new skills as well.
Watching the session was also useful for David and I and we both picked up ideas and games to use in our upcoming training sessions.”
King’s Hall are proud to support the club, and have recently sponsored the U11 training kit, which was presented to the players at the end of the session.
