King's Hall Welcomes GAP Students

We are delighted to welcome three GAP year students to King's Hall this Lent Term. Our new members of staff have travelled from far and wide, ready to take on life in a British boarding school.

Megan Beecher, who was born in Griffith, Australia, finished school last year and recently made the decision to move to England to pursue her dream of working abroad.

Commenting on her first week at King’s Hall, she said: “Working at King’s Hall School is a fabulous opportunity to gain experience, having lived in a small town all of my life. I have begun working in the Nursery and the boarding house, and so far have enjoyed every moment.”

“Everyone is friendly and welcoming, which has made the transition much easier.”

Megan enjoys playing the piano, showing off her netball skills and learning more about the English language. We hope she has a blast working with us!

Another of our new starters is Sean-Michael Campleman, who hails from Cape Town, South Africa. Sean-Michael was a GAP year student with us in 2013 and has since returned to England looking to complete his teaching certification in the next year or so. After 2013, he returned to Stellenbosch University for a degree in Sport Science and is now looking to bring the knowledge and skills gained to King’s Hall.

Upon returning, he said: “Being back here has felt like being at home and I have settled into things extremely well. Assisting in the children’s development is a passion of mine and one that I thrive on. I get to see the change and help guide the future in various ways, including coaching, assisting in the classroom and leading PE lessons around the school.”

Sean-Michael hopes to gain as much experience as possible during his time with us. We are certain that he will make a huge difference to all the children’s lives.

The last of our newcomers is Rachel Biggs, who has travelled all the way from East London, South Africa to work with us. Rachel studied in KwaZulu-Natal for 18 years before moving to Taunton.

When asked what she is most looking forward to about working at King’s Hall, she said: “I really enjoy sport so I can’t wait to get involved in all the teams this year and hopefully go on a few sporting trips, too. I also look forward to travelling around Europe during the holidays.”

Rachel is in for a pleasant surprise as we have a range of exciting events and trips planned for the coming year! We can't wait to share them with you.
