Happy St George’s Day – another lovely one to be out slaying dragons. One Chippendale chicken was nearly slain this morning and very many thanks to the kind Pre-Prep family for pulling over and putting it back the safe side of the fence!
When deprived of something for so long it is all the sweeter when it returns – so it has proved over the last 72 hours. The sway, mood, rhythm and ambience of a Summer Term is very different and we have discovered that, like riding a bicycle, we haven’t forgotten how to make it work and enjoy the dynamic. The school looks stunning, the sun is shining and there are droves of children having a great time across both north and south fields in break times. It has been a very bright and optimistic start to term.
Given we have only had three days, this week’s Prep Newsletter contains mainly notices and reminders but there is also a link to the combined Prep song, Believe by Lin Marsh. The children contributed to this in their bubbles late last term as part of replacing the usual House Music event. We had several musical and dramatic items integrated in our Final Assembly with this whole Prep collaboration creating a wonderfully pure and lyrically empowering song.
There is also an article capturing the recent cricket representation from King’s at a senior level with Somerset. We know that King’s cricket has always been strong and getting stronger over the last 12 years but we believe, in the pre-season matches, we saw the first King’s Hall boy go through and on to make their debut for the senior 1st XI. It is probably no surprise that the King’s Hall team who become National Under 13 Cricket Champions four years ago feature and you can read in the Newsletter for a wider view.
We are happily underway, then, and Hobbies kick in next week, too, so onwards it is.
