Important Skills Developed on Holland Hockey Tour
Over the half term break, two hockey teams from King’s Hall travelled to the heart of Amsterdam for a week of training, fixtures and sightseeing!
Over the course of the tour, which was kindly arranged by Sweet Chariots, the Under 13 players took part in two training sessions led by professional Dutch hockey players. This was hugely inspiring for both the coaches and the players, who took away a great deal from the interactive sessions.
The children also played a total of three matches against local clubs, HC Hisalis, HC Athena, and MHC Strawberries. While friendly in nature, these matches helped the teams to build on their teamwork and gameplay skills. In their final game, the boys and girls were mixed to create a new dynamic super team! The clubs were fantastic hosts and made the teams feel most welcome.
Spare time was spent visiting the world-famous Anne Frank museum, Dutch windmills and canals. The group also explored the capital on foot, embracing the culture of Amsterdam at every opportunity. This included buying souvenirs and lots of chocolate! It’s safe to say that everyone returned to school in high spirits, looking forward to putting their hockey skills to the test in their forthcoming fixtures!
