Boogie Bugs Delight at Pre-Prep Summer Show
A whole host of colourful creepy crawlies took to the stage last week as Pre-Prep unveiled their annual Summer Show for excited parents and friends.
This year’s show, expertly put on by Claire Luckhurst and the whole early years team, told the story of Lucinda the Ladybird – a lonely, and somewhat stubborn beetle who refuses to share a precious secret with the other ladybirds.
After her ‘friends’ desert her, Lucinda realises she has nobody to play with and begins to feel isolated from the insects around her. As the other garden creatures flutter, march, hop, crawl and boogie around her, she begins to seek their advice – finding out where she went wrong and how she can better communicate.
It isn’t until she ventures to the very end of the garden that she meets Woody, the old and wise oak tree who helps her to understand that sharing is the key to friendship. Presently, Lucinda returns to her ladybird friends to tell her secret, whereby securing their trust and friendship once again.
The show involved the whole of Pre-Prep, from Nursery through to Year 2, and every child performed beautifully. Particular highlights included the marching Beetle Army and the funky Boogie Bugs, who we must say rocked their polka dot skirts! Well done to all of the Year 2s who had their own speaking parts, and delivered these lines with confidence and clarity.
