Bonkers! Barking! Barmy! What a wonderfully ridiculous story Lewis Carroll created when he constructed the antics of Alice in her dream-state destination, Wonderland. An unrestricted mindset generated some fabulously offbeat and bizarre characterisations which Year 6, under the sure-footed guidance of Mrs Keirle, have fully embraced.
I knew the story, and I expected a certain eccentricity to be set before me, but I wasn’t prepared for the vibrancy, vitality and vivacity of the production we were treated to this week. The colour, the setting, the stage craft, the unexpected, the zaniness and (most crucially) the punch with which the children delivered the show all bowled me over. Congratulations to Year 6 for their collective sense of fun and for the confidence with which they entertained audiences showcasing their talents.
The next ‘show’ to come from the Prep children is, of course, the House Music Competition and so I hope you are able to join us for the afternoon of Friday 29 March: make sure it’s in your diary.
