Boarding Movie Nights Prove Popular
It was a full house at our most recent movie night as pupils from Years 6-8 snuggled up for a special screening of The Polar Express. It was certainly “comfy and cosy” in the Arts Centre as the children donned their finest (and most festive) Christmas jumpers especially for the occasion.
As soon as the opening credits began, the pupils were captivated – it was almost as if they were taken on their own magical journey. And, despite not having the power to whip up hot chocolate out of thin (like Tom Hanks!), our boarding staff delivered some with lashings of ice-cream and popcorn during half time.
Our movie nights continue to prove popular, and following their success, we hope to host several more in the new year. Not only are they a hit with our boarders and day pupils, they also provide a fun and interactive way for the children to socialise outside of school hours.
The celebrations began back in October, when 72 pupils attended our first event of the Michaelmas Term. The evening began with a dinner of hot dog and chips (a popular sleepover meal, or so we’re told), followed by a screening of Captain Marvel. A rather fitting film, considering the pupils stayed “super-silent” for the duration.
We’re definitely thinking the next movie should be a Valentine’s Day rom-com – any suggestions?
