A Long Weekend of Festive Fun
Published on: Monday, November 25, 2019
We packed a lot into this term's Long Weekend. Just look at our schedule:
6.30am - Train to Birmingham
10.00am- Visit to the Sea Life Centre
11.00am - Fall head over heels for the penguins (our new school pet, we've decided!)
12.15pm - Tuck into a delicious lunch, as packed by Mrs Willmott.
2.00pm - Trip to see Billionaire Boy at the Alexandra Theatre
5.30pm - Evening meal at Giraffe
7.00pm - Train back to King's Hall
9.00am - Bacon butties, croissants crumpets and juice!
10.00am - A visit to the Rural Living Show (where we spent too much money!)
12.30pm - Lunch ala Willmott, another fine feast
2.00pm - Christmas shopping in town (Christmas jumpers were a must)
5.00pm - An evening at the children's favourite restaurant ... McDonalds
A HUGE thank to Mrs Willmott for making the start of the festive season such an amazing one. We have a bunch of very lucky and happy children (and staff!) in the Boarding House this week.

Woke up this morning only to find that the Year 8 showers had been festively decorated with green hair dye and glitter - I can’t think why! I have to say though that I was so proud of the children who took part in The Wiz last week, particularly my boarders who all rose to the occasion and thoroughly enjoyed themselves, I felt very emotional and proud of them all, although I think it will be a few days until the glitter disappears!
I went for a walk on Saturday morning and there was a delicious waft of spices coming from the woods so I went to see what was cooking. It took me a little by surprised to see Mr Chippendale and Mr Watson in their pinnies, with the children shouting “Yes Chef, No Chef”. I admit I did have to suppress my laughter! The children really are lucky to have their very own Cookery School, and I got a real sense of pride watching them all work together to make chilli con carne from scratch. I certainly feel the boarders will have to spend some time in the kitchen, cooking up some festive treats over the next few weeks.

All the boarders want to thank everyone involved in making last Friday's Fireworks Party such a magical one - even Snoops enjoyed it!
As you may well know, in boarding we are not allowed to mention the festive C word until the end of this month. However, last weekend was cold and miserable so what better time to bring out the Christmas jigsaws and the 6ft colouring poster?! All we needed was a log fire and a tin of Quality streets!
Gadgets v Board Games

As the nights begin to draw in, our collection of board games decide to make an appearance! Who knew so much excitement could come from a single game of Uno? Or that the pressures of chess could delight even the most sceptical of players? Not to mention the competitive dealings of Snakes and Ladders, and the frustration of, you guessed it, Frustration!
The staff love the interactive element, and so do the children, making board games the perfect replacement to electrical gadgets (or so we think ...).
