Boarders Celebrate with End-of-Year Feast
The boarders feast … some say it is the greatest night of the year.
This year the celebration was bigger than ever before, with bubbles and canapés served in the Pemberton Room before the evening’s main event: a lavish feast in the Woodard Room. With a menu of beef and cheddar burgers, Cajun baby potatoes and pickled cucumber ribbons, it was safe to say that our boarders were feeling well and truly thankful. And that’s before mentioning dessert …
In true King’s Hall style, the meal was rounded off with a visit to the ice-cream parlour which came complete with a variety of toppings including crumbled chocolate brownie, meringue pieces, and biscuit bites. With everyone full of happiness and hearty food, it was time to unveil this year’s Staff Panto, Snow White and the Seven Gnomes. Adding a comical spin to the classic tale, the teachers and boarding staff really did whistle while they worked as they entertained the children with song and dance. We must also give special mention to Mr Watson who shone in his role asthe Wicked Witch – he had everyone in hysterics.
To wrap up a magical evening, the community gathered for a festive sing-song before one final surprise: a visit from Father Christmas! With a sack full of presents and a jolly ol’ laugh, he had us all believing before it was finally time to retire.
Head of Boarding, Mrs Masters commented: “Thank you to everyone who made this night so special. It was the perfect way to wish our boarders a Merry Christmas whilst also saying goodbye to our lovely GAP students. We will miss them all very much and wish them the best of luck in their next adventures.”
