Year 1 Adventures in the Local Area
As part of their geography studies this term, Year 1 have been out and about in the local area, exploring the effects of different human and physical activities on the landscape.
Visiting their local park, the children looked around at the play equipment and tested it for suitability. All of the equipment was thoroughly tested and approved!
Enjoying the sunshine, the children bought a few refreshments from the local shop before heading off to Cothlestone Hill for an adventurous trek.
Up on the hill we explored the woodland and then made our way up to the top to enjoy the panoramic views and an edible treat courtesy of an early visit from the Easter Bunny.
We thought about everything we had seen at the park and at school and compared the scenery that stretched out in front of us. The children listed the differences and similarities and discussed the features they liked best and those that they thought might be improved.
It was a great day out – educational and fun – and the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
