U13 Hockey Team Through to IAPS National Final
King’s Hall School are through to the Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) Under 13 Hockey National Final after finishing third out of 24 teams in the regionals at Millfield Prep.
After winning three of the first round matches against Salisbury Cathedral, The Downs, and Taunton Prep, drawing with Beaudesert Park, and losing out to Cheltenham College Prep, King’s Hall won their group. They then faced Hazlegrove in the qualification match. At the end of full time, and after five minutes of extra time, it was goalless, meaning the match went to penalty flicks.
After three flicks it was 1-1, with goal keeper Florence Delafield-Cook making two impressive saves. Sudden death flicks followed and King’s Hall's ‘keeper saved the first one before Emily Ogle scored, resulting in qualification for the national finals.
In the semi-final, King’s Hall dominated throughout but unfortunately lost to Dumpton. However, the team concluded the tournament with a strong win against Clifton College, placing third overall.
Anna Hardy, Head of Geography and games teacher at King's Hall, said: “The girls were brilliant all day. They were committed and worked hard for their success. They truly are a pleasure to coach."
