Lynda studied Mathematics and Education at York University and began her working life employed as a statistician leading a small team in the Bank of England. She then worked as an independent consultant social researcher and as a tutor in Mathematics and Statistics for the Open University. Lynda is a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society and a member of the Market Research Society. She continues to teach as a visiting university tutor in social research and statistical methods. For eleven years Lynda was an OFSTED schools inspector and a Church of England schools inspector. She has served as a school governor at Hawthorns School, Bletchingley.
In 1996 Lynda was ordained into the Church of England and took charge of two churches in Devon. She is now a prebendary at Exeter Cathedral, a bishops’ selector and assessor of ordained colleagues. For ten years Lynda has been based at the Archbishops’ Council as Head of Research and Statistics for the Church of England. She specialises in social research and its use in policy making, writing for the wider Church and its liaison with national media.
