When the school emptied for long weekend some of our overseas children, who will all be heading home in a week’s time, stayed with the boarding staff for a festive, albeit action-packed, weekend.
On Friday night the children enjoyed pizzas and a well-earned rest. The relaxation period was, however, rather brief as by 7.08 am on Saturday morning everyone was on the train to London to go and see The Snowman at Sadler’s Wells Theatre.
The show was an absolute delight and certainly put everyone in a festive mood. It was then onto Covent Garden where we saw street entertainment and admired the Christmas displays. From there we walked through Leicester Square and onto Regent Street to see the lights. We just had time to make a quick visit to Hamleys before heading to lunch at the Forest Gump themed restaurant, Bubba Gump Shrimp. The food was absolutely delicious and we were thoroughly spoiled.
Although we could have done with a bit of a rest on Sunday after our London adventure, the children were keen to get into town as there were substantial shopping lists to get through: Christmas jumpers, Advent calendars, Christmas cards and Secret Santa presents. Once the mini bus was loaded with all our shopping bags there was just enough time to squeeze in a cinema visit to watch The Grinch, followed by a cheeky McDonalds.
