Starting between 3-7

Children may join King's Hall aged 3 in our nursery class, where they stay until the September after they have turned 4, or may join one of two parallel classes for our Reception (4-5 years). In Key Stage 1 there are two parallel classes for our Year 1 (5-6 years) and Year 2 (6-7 years) pupils.

In the Pre-Prep class sizes average between 12 and 16, so a great deal of individual attention is given to each child The aim is to provide the children with first-hand experiences, so a lot of learning happens outside the classroom, through Forest School and by taking the children on exciting and relevant outings.

The highly qualified 'early years' staff teach a carefully balanced curriculum which meets and often exceeds the National Curriculum requirements of the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1. Using specialist equipment, the Montessori approach forms the basis for teaching in the Nursery and beyond. Much of the learning is done through topic work. Topics are brought alive by interactive classroom displays, inviting visitors to give demonstrations and holding workshops as well as
educational visits.
