Earlier this term, Reception were given the chance to review a wonderful, newly published picture book for the TES, a leading educational publication.
The book was “Singing in the Rain,” a fantastically fun story celebrating rain and all its good for. The feel-good picture book, written and beautifully illustrated by Tim Hoopgood, takes its inspiration from the iconic song, and equally iconic dance sequence performed by Gene Kelly in the 1952 movie of the same name.
The pupils were captivated from the very start, mesmerised by the bright and joyful illustrations that in turn provided many talking topics.
Everyone was so delighted with the story’s positive message, with many of the pupils sharing their favourite rainy experiences with the class.
The book even came with a CD, which the children really enjoyed. The classroom heaved under the weight of toes tapping and feet dancing. Protected by their imaginary umbrellas, the pupils pretended to splash in very large, and very wet, puddles!
