Pyrland Pioneers

Pyrland Pioneers was started at King’s Hall a number of years ago as an offshoot from Cubs in order to make use of the woods which surround the north side of the school and provide the pupils in Years 3,4,5 and 6 with an opportunity to enjoy their environment, develop skills and team-build when presented with challenges. An area has been built in one corner of the woods where there are four group shelters (each child is assigned to a group), a safe fire area and a round house for the use of Forest School.

Pyrland Pioneers aims to extend much of the work done in Forest School while also developing independence, woodland skills with practical elements and reliance on other team members.  Approximately every other week there is a cooking session, which is extremely popular, where they are encouraged to cook such things as pancakes and twists on an open fire environment.

Pyrland Pioneers has become very popular and is run twice a week after school for both boys and girls.
