Great Results at Prep School Athletics Finals
Following success at the regional qualifiers, five of our young athletes recently took part in the National Prep School Finals at Alexander Stadium.
The children represented the South West team in nine events, racking up some notable wins.
Grace Eakhurst put in a fine performance in both the discus and shot putt, scoring a personal best (PB) in the former. Charlie Sidhu also put in a great performance, competing in the high jump before finishing third in the 1500m.
Katie Rowe ran a gutsy 800m, achieving another PB and finishing in fifth place. She also competed in the 200m. Meanwhile, Alex Mott pulled out a final round jump that put him into 7th place in the long jump.
And finally, Grace Fielder, who has surely impressed this term, qualified for the 75m hurdles. She also completed her long jump, achieving a PB and a well-deserved bronze medal.
Lining up for the final of the hurdles, a false start had the girls on edge. However, when the gun finally went off, Grace soared into the lead, winning the race and becoming the National Champion. She returned to school proudly clutching her gold medal.
