Plays & Productions
“Acting is about finding yourself in a magical world.”
Pupils in the Pre-Prep take part in a number of showstopping productions each year. These are often performed on stage in our Arts Centre, where the children take advantage of our fantastic drama facilities, including lights, costume, props and scenery.
At Christmas, the Nursery stage their very own heart-warming nativity; an event sure to bring a tear to the eye. The audience are often forewarned to bring a good supply of tissues for this very reason! In contrast to the intimacy of this nativity, pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 bring the "greatest story ever told" to life through song and dance. Although we never deviate from the traditional tale, we do find entertaining and memorable ways to retell it.
Meanwhile, the finale to our year comes in the shape of the Summer Show. This action-packed production involved every child in Pre-Prep, from Nursery 1 through to Year 2. Over the years, we have covered a number of topics including traditional Maori stories, nursery rhyme mysteries and tales with moral messages. Year 2 lead this production, with every pupil cast in a speaking role. It really is the most wonderful way to close the academic year!
