Overview

Boarding at King's Hall is all about family; for us, as Houseparents it's about creating an environment where children spend time away from home feeling safe and cared for; where everyone has the opportunity to develop the crucial life skills of independence and self-reliance in addition to a true understanding of the role they play in a family community.

My wife Nicola, our two boys and I live and breathe boarding at King's Hall; our door is always open both literally and metaphorically, meaning that the boarders become an extension to our own family. The support of our dedicated residential staff team is essential, and really enhances life in the house. The boarding 'family' extends to the Headmaster and his family, Housemistress, GAP students, the medical team and our Matron. There is always someone to talk to; always the right kind of person to lend an ear; big brother and sister figures and more experienced members of staff combine to make life in the house lots of fun.

Life in the boarding house is fun and varied. Throughout the week there are all sorts of activities to be enjoyed from games in the woods, to arts and crafts and cinema nights.  Sundays are eagerly anticipated with a mix of trips away from school like paintballing, pony trekking or ice skating at Eden, or in-house Sundays which are more relaxed and give an opportunity to recharge batteries.

Being and feeling part of a boarding family makes life away from home not just bearable but hugely enjoyable. Boarders are doubly fortunate to have a family at home, with whom they spend holidays and long weekends, and a family at school where adventures are shared and lifelong friendships are forged; prep school boarding is all about filling every day with lasting memories and enjoying every moment with friends.
