Year 6 geography fieldwork
The Holford River Studies trip is always a highlight of the early stages of October for the Year 6 geographers, who put theory into practice. Equipped and ready for action, the children embarked on the study of rivers and the flow of water from high in the Holford Valley to the low land flood plains of Kilve.
The children gather specific information from three cross sectional areas of this woodland and began to see for themselves the impact that the water cycle can have on the natural landscape of a V-shaped valley. The data collected was discussed in relation to hypothesise that had been made prior to the visit and then taken back to school for further scrutiny over the next few lessons. A great deal of fun was had during the trip and invaluable memories made to inspire future Geographical intrigue.
