"Children should be seen and not heard!"

"Children should be seen and not heard" ... the Year 2 children were told this in no uncertain terms by the Victorian Housekeeper on their work experience visit to Powderham Castle!

They were taught how to scrub the floors, polish boots, iron the tea towels, dust the panelled walls and beat the carpets, and they worked their little fingers to the bone all day! Mrs. Cop, the head cook, taught them how to cook Welsh cakes, and said they had all passed their apprenticeship and were welcome back to work at the castle any time!
