Year 2 Pond dipping trip to Fyne Court
To tie in with the Year 2 topic about different habitats, the classes spent a lovely sunny afternoon pond dipping at Fyne Court. The children sat on the little jetties with nets and buckets fishing about in the water looking for bugs, snails, frogs and also pond weed!
There was great excitement when they came together to look inside the buckets and a few children had found baby newts and adult newts. Everyone was careful not to handle them, and just looked through magnifying glasses as they swam about! The children found lots of snails, water boatmen, diving beetle larva and Damselfy nymphs, and then put them all back carefully into the pond.
