British Schools Cycling Championships

Magnus Larsen raced at the British Schools Hill Climb and Track Championships held in Hampshire recently.

Magnus represented King’s Hall at Ditcham Park School, Hampshire, for a hill climb held over 2.5 miles at an average gradient of 9%. With over 90 competitors from across the UK and in searing heat , Magnus flew up the course at an average of over 30 kph to record the fastest time until the final two competitors who just edged him out of the top spot. He was rewarded with a Bronze National Championships medal and a Silver for the Southern Area Championships.

He then once again represented the school; Magnus raced at Portsmouth velodrome in a British Schools Omnium Championship. With a track temperature of over 40 degrees and another 80 competitors, he raced convincingly in the sprint heats and finals but was eventually overcome to finish 4th nationally. Just out of the medals but a very spirited performance on one of the hottest days of the year.

Well done, Magnus!
