"Sherehezade"

The Year 7 play, “Sherehezade” was performed to sell-out audiences on Thursday and Friday last week. Based on “The Arabian Nights” the play dramatises two stories “Jaydar and His Brothers” and “Ali Baba” which are related as “plays within a play” by two sisters in a (successful) attempt to delay their impending doom.

The cast of fifty was supported by a production team of another twenty five so this was a big event. Co-directors Miss Mary Gilmore and Mr Francis Barnsley organised and presented the show most effectively. The acting was outstanding and every aspect of the “behind the scenes” support was impressive. The many comic moments were used to present a more serious and perhaps more sinister message which left the audience both laughing and pondering.
