Mutts Go Mad at FoKH Dog Show

All this rain has got us reminiscing our recent trip to #Exmoor. Sailing, kayaking and paddle boarding were just so… https://t.co/xnrtqO7Zta - 10 hours ago

Official counts have yet to be confirmed, but close to 30 terriers, Labradors, spaniels, bulldogs, labradoodles and canines of mixed lineage, accompanied by their excitable owners, attended the Friends of King’s Hall (FoKH) Dog Show earlier this month.

Despite a brief downpour during the opening class, the weather was kind for the remainder of the day and under the watchful and authoritative gaze of expert judge Charlie Jacoby (a former King’s Hall pupil), the finest family pets were paraded in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd.

Waggiest tales and obedience ability were tested to the limits, as were the speed and gluttony of both dogs and handlers in the popular sausage-eating contest (complaints about the excessive size of the sausages came exclusively from the latter!).

The grand finale was surely the highlight: at least 20 dogs and their handlers in a hell-for-leather race to catch a cuddly toy laced with dog treats (you can’t make this stuff up!).

Chief Pelican, Donald Rice said: “Thanks to generous sponsorship from Skylos, every dog went home with a treat bag – though there were a dozen huge, gluten-free sausages remaining! Thanks again to everyone who attended, it really was a fantastic day for all.”
