Concerts:

Informal Concerts are held frequently and parents are invited to see their children's progress on their chosen instrument(s). These concerts are the ideal platform for introducing young, inexperienced players to a live audience, which in turn stands them in good stead for possible future performance in examinations and Formal Concerts. As the name suggests, they are informal, relaxed and wholly enjoyable.

Formal Concerts are held once a term and provide an opportunity for the more experienced players to demonstrate their musical talents. The concerts take place in the Arts Centre to a much larger audience than the informal gatherings and, as before, pupils gain invaluable experience in the art of performing. These events are also the occasions at which the larger school ensembles such as the Orchestra are able to perform.

The House Music Competition is an opportunity for every child in the Prep Department to take part in one way or another and takes place in the sports hall in front of the entire school with all the parents in attendance! Houses compete with each other in Junior and Senior categories, and then each House (of around 60 pupils) forms their own choir to battle it out in the musical arena. Recent years have included House songs by Michael Jackson and Abba, as well as the children mastering traditional spirituals in two- and three-part harmony.
