Woodard 200th Anniversary

24/11/2011
Nathaniel Woodard founded his first school in the 1840s, amidst the challenges of Victorian society. During his lifetime he established ten more schools, all of which provided a Christian education. Today, all nineteen Woodard schools, as well as the twenty-three associated schools, are united in their pursuit of realising his vision and goals.
It was this faith, unity and vision that brought all the member schools together in a celebration of Nathaniel Woodard’s life achievements and legacy. Westminster Abbey was chosen as the venue for the ‘Thanksgiving Service’ and a congregation of 2,000 assembled to partake in this momentous event.
It was with great pride that thirty-five Year 8 children, representatives from the King’s Hall Chapel Choir and accompanying staff, attended this service. The emotive readings, the magnificent choral music and the awe-inspiring surroundings all contributed to the poignancy of this special occasion.
