The King’s Hall boys’ ski team, who are South West Under 14 Champions, comprising of William & Edward Cashmore and Edward & Robert Coombs, competed at the national finals of the English Schools Ski Championships at Stoke Ski Centre on Saturday 8 October.

Competing up in the Under 14 age category (despite two of the team being aged just 10), the team finished in an excellent 6th place in this national event, which was won by Cranmore Prep School from Surrey.

After generally indifferent first runs, all the boys had much improved second runs:  William stormed through the line in 14.70 seconds to record the second fastest 2nd run time in the whole competition and Robert took almost a second off his first run time.  Had the team’s first run performance been as strong they would most definitely have finished on the podium.

Overall, though, there were some very good performances, with William finishing in 6th place individually and Edward Cashmore in 7th, giving them a good chance of being chosen for the English Schools’ Ski Squad when it is selected later this year.
