Burns Night!

2012 Lent Burns Night 2 MAIN

25/01/2012

This evening we all enjoyed a wonderful Burns Night supper and the atmosphere in the Dining Hall was amazing.  The haggis was paraded into the hall on a big, silver tray to the sound of Scottish music.  Mr Barnsley read the traditional address to the haggis and he spoke with a really strong Scottish accent. The chef then plunged a knife into the haggis and cut it open.  We were served haggis with tatties, neeps and Scottish oat biscuits.  The raspberry dessert was more than amazing and the Scottish shortbread was delicious.

I had never eaten haggis before and I really liked it.  I visit Scotland a lot because my dad lives there but I don’t think it could have tasted any better, even in Scotland, especially as we have our own Scottish chef at King’s Hall!

On behalf of the boarders, I would just like to thank Liz and all the catering staff for a fantastic evening.
