Armistice Day

2011 Mich Remembrance Service (Main Image)

Armistice day was commemorated on Friday 11th November; maintaining the tradition of King’s Hall by holding the service on the actual day of remembrance at 11.00 am.

This year saw a few significant additions to the service in that the oldest boy and oldest girl shared the privilege of laying a wreath at the altar whilst The Chapel Choir sang an especially composed setting of “Do Not stand at My Grave and Weep”. Georgina Adcock, a former pupil of the school, played an exacting rendition of Last Post and Reveille and the entire service was supported by our 24 piece orchestra which accompanied all of the hymns and brought the proceedings to a rousing finish with “Land of Hope and Glory” as the congregation left.  Parents also witnessed the event which was a dignified and moving tribute to those who had given their lives in the past.

This was also the first time that the new Choir Robes have been worn at an official school occasion.
