A beautiful way to get the Christmas season started ......

On a suitably chilly evening, the Chapel at King’s College was packed as we gathered to celebrate our Carol Service. A beautiful solo verse of Once in Royal David’s City led into wave after wave of harmonies, carols, piccolo trumpets, wonderful choir items and descants as well as the retelling of the traditional story through the age-old texts from the Bible. A very atmospheric duet finale set the hairs on end before a rousing rendition of Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. The duet contained the message “Let there be peace on Earth, and let it begin with me”. A huge number of children, parents, grandparents as well as wider family and friends left with a warm glow from the service that was augmented by the mulled wine and mince pies that were served! As many commented: “A beautiful way to get the Christmas season started”.
