We are delighted to announce that King’s College, Doha has now opened its doors to children and staff. The school is now providing state-of-the-art facilities for children from 3 to 11 years.

A shortage of quality private school places in the country and a quickly accelerating population has led to problems for families looking to move to Qatar. The opening of King’s College, Doha will provide a traditional British offering for international families who want a first class education for their child.

The project is being sponsored by Sheikh Mansoor bin Jassim bin Thani Al Thani, a member of the Qatar Royal Family. As well as his own portfolio of businesses, the Sheikh works for Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Doha as the Counsellor for European Embassies, having previously been posted to Japan, Russia, Spain and the USA. King’s College, Doha is a partnership with EduReach, a specialist in exporting premium British education. The EduReach team is highly experienced in founding British schools overseas and will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the school.

The Founding Principal of King’s College, Doha is Nicholas Gunn, who brings over 25 years independent and international school teaching and leadership experience. Nicholas was Deputy Head at Makuhari International School in Japan before joining the King’s College, Doha team. A former pupil of Brighton College, he was also previously Head of Prep at Lancing Prep, Worthing, which is another Woodard School.

A glazed central atrium sits at the heart of the new school offering a unique amphitheatre performance hall surrounded by large, state of the art classrooms with dedicated indoor and outdoor learning and play areas.

The school has an excellent array of specialist teaching spaces including Science Labs, an Art and Design centre, Music and Drama classrooms as well as a dedicated Arabic and Islamic studies centre. ICT will play a key role throughout, with Wi-Fi available in all internal areas and a Mac Computer Lab allowing for a wide range of computing, coding and digital design and editing.

The extensive sports facilities include an indoor hall, a brand-new 25-metre pool with learner area and new outdoor games such as astroturf football, tennis, basketball and netball courts.

The library is a key focal point for the school, providing a diverse range of traditional books and digital media within a space catering to personalised learning and study. An enrichment centre that focuses on the personalised learning needs of children including additional English language and specialised learning support will undoubtedly become an important facility within the school.
