King’s Hall Launches New Healthy Living Initiative
Pupils at King’s Hall are embracing a healthy lifestyle as part of a new sports initiative. Led by our Director of Sport, Ali Halls, the campaign will incorporate activities that encourage children to develop a healthy mind and body.
Alongside this, our pupils continue to take part in the school’s weekly King’s Loop – a fun yet challenging 2.5k run around the school grounds. Inspired by the popular Park Runs that take place up and down the country, the school community meet twice weekly to tackle the looping course.
Summarising the campaign, Ali explained: “We want to ensure that every child who attends King’s Hall enjoys a healthy diet as well as a healthy lifestyle. With this in mind, we are excited to encourage pupils from across the school make healthier life choices.”
“So far this term we have introduced a number of activities that serve as an alternative to our traditional sports offering. Fixtures are big part of school life, but we also want pupils to hike, map read and use teamwork whilst orienteering on the Quantocks. After such positive experiences, pupils have started taking their families there on the weekends. This is a huge step in the right direction for life-long healthy living.”
He added: “We think it is really important to get the right balance between enjoying sport and competitive sport. Every week we have friendly fixtures where our focus is on pupil learning and skill development. We also stretch our pupils by offering County Competitions and IAPS competitions in a range of sport.”
