History and Geography
Using a combination of classroom learning and trips, pupils are encouraged to learn key facts, evaluate, analyse and interpret material, to develop a caring attitude to the world on a local, national and global scale and to stimulate pupils to ask questions such as “What is that?”, “Why is it there?” and “Why did that happen?”. To aid learning we use topic work to bring history and geography alive, through visits and themed events.
| • | Visits to historical sites, e.g. HMS Victory, Torrington 1646 (Civil War day), Roman Caerleon. |
| • | Candidates entered for the national Townsend Warner History Prize. |
| • | Themed events, e.g. Dinosaurs, Medieval Day, and Victorian Day. |
| • | Pre-Prep projects and visits |
