History
King’s Hall School was founded in 1952 as the junior department of King’s College in the current premises, Pyrland Hall . In 1987, it became a separate school in its own right and, at the same time, became co-educational. In doing so, it became constitutionally independent of the College whilst remaining closely associated with it.
King’s Hall is therefore a relatively young school but what is remarkable, is what the school has achieved in its 55 years of existence. It has grown from just over sixty pupils, all boys and nearly all boarders, to around 400 boarders, weekly-boarders and day pupils, with boys and girls in almost equal numbers. Educationally it is right up-to-date.
