Curriculum

King's Hall School is committed to ensuring that all the children:

  • are ready for school
  • attend and enjoy school
  • achieve educational standards commensurate with their age and ability
  • achieve personal and social development and enjoy recreation
  • are well prepared for the next stage of their schooling

Careful planning, monitoring, assessment and recording are essential to ensure that each child receives a broad, balanced, challenging and appropriate curriculum and that their individual needs, strengths and any difficulties are quickly identified.  Staff are enthusiastic, dedicated and flexible and use a variety of teaching strategies.  The curriculum is supplemented by a carefully planned programme of visits and trips, and learning is supported by regular and relevant preps.

The main subjects taught are English, Mathematics, Science, French, Geography, History, Religious Studies, Information and Communications Technology, Design Technology, Art, Drama, Music, PSHE and Physical Education.  Latin is introduced as an option in Year 6 for the most able pupils.

Pupils are prepared for the Common Entrance / Academic Scholarship examinations to the senior school of their choice. These take place in the Summer / Lent Term of Year 8.
