Choirs

There are two choirs at King's Hall: the Chapel Choir and the Pyrland Choir.

The Chapel Choir is formed by members of Years 5, 6, 7 and 8. It currently has 48 members and pupils are required to audition to take part. The choir performs at the majority of the Chapel services which are held every Thursday instead of assembly and the choir are suitably robed in cassocks and surpluses for the occasion.

Each year the Chapel Choir visits Sherborne School to join with several other Prep School Choirs in a magnificent service held in Sherborne Abbey which is always a fantastic experience.

Perhaps the most prestigious event that the choir undertakes is that of the Carol Service which is held every Christmas in King's College Chapel. Traditional carols, with congregational participation, are sung alongside more modern pieces, all contributing to a wondrous occasion.

The Pyrland Choir consists of Years 3, 4 and 5 and takes its name from the original name of King's Hall, Pyrland Hall.

The choir is featured in less formal surroundings, although they too perform at the annual Carol Service. The choir provides a super musical outlet for the younger element and serves as a good indicator for recruitment into the Chapel Choir.
