Children's Author Megan Rix Visits King's Hall
On Friday pupils from King’s Hall and nearby Cheddon Fitzpaine Primary School were treated to a visit from Megan Rix, a leading children’s author whose animal adventure books have enchanted readers for years.
Her visit to King’s Hall was part of a book tour to celebrate the launch of her latest story, The Paw House.
The popular author entertained the children with fascinating facts about the ways in which animals have helped us throughout history, in particular during wartime.
For many years, Megan Rix has been involved in training Assistance Dogs that help those with disabilities to perform everyday tasks. These dogs have inspired some of her stories and the children enjoyed seeing photos of all the dogs that she has helped to train.
Then, to everyone’s surprise, the pupils were treated to a real-life demonstration by Megan’s own dogs, Bella and Freya, who had come along to meet them!
Megan’s talk concluded with some valuable tips for budding writers and to round off the morning, the children were given the opportunity to have their books signed.
The pupils of King’s Hall and Cheddon Fitzpaine had a wonderful time and were enthralled by the author and her dogs.
