King’s Hall pupil Cameron Wallace recently represented the West Panthers at the UK Lions Under 13 Hockey tournament in Nottingham.

Cameron was selected for the final 18 from almost 100 aspiring young hockey players, all of whom attended four intense training sessions to form the Trophy squad.

The boys headed to Nottingham on the Friday for their first match against the South, which was a close match with the West Panthers winning 2-0. On the Saturday, the team played three more games against the Midlands, the North West, and Wales, winning all three. Meanwhile, on Sunday, there was a ‘top of the table’ clash against the North East, with tensions running high. However, with a strong team performance, and endless energy and commitment on the pitch, the Panthers came out on top, winning 3-1.

The final match was against Scotland, where the boys had some fun, mixing up into different positions – a great way to see and play the game from a different perspective! Finishing strongly, the team won the trophy – scoring 26 goals and conceding only three. It is safe to say that Cameron put in a fantastic performance throughout the tournament, and reaped its social benefits. He now has friends from across the country who share his love of hockey.
