Boarders Go Head-to-Head in Baking Battle
Happy National Boarding Week! This week we will be joining the British Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA) in their celebration of boarding schools and communities across the world.
As part of the celebrations, and in true British style – with the rain pouring and a cup of tea in hand – we hosted our very own Bake Off competition. Equipped with all kinds of utensils, our boarding bakers tackled the trickiest test of all: fairy cakes.
Following the traditional Bake Off format, the children were judged on their skills and competed against one another in a bid to win the ultimate baking battle. Several broken eggs and a few soggy bottoms later, trays of perfectly proportioned cakes emerged from the clouds of flour. After cooling down, the afternoon was then spent decorating – a task equally as messy! Skittles, sprinkles and chocolate stars were just some of the ingredients used to embellish their creations.
Jackie, one of our chefs, undertook the role of Prue, judging the children on their baking and design skills. There was some tough competition, but it was Constanza who was crowned Star Baker. Congratulations must also go to Anna and Herbert, who came 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Commenting on the event, Head of Boarding, Clare Masters, said: “Well done to our winners – what a fantastic achievement. I was hugely impressed by all of the cakes, and of the time, effort and sticky fingers that went into creating them. Snoops and I were big fans!”
