Admissions Overview

All enquiries regarding admission to King’s Hall should be made to our Director of Admissions, Mrs Kate Rippin, who may be contacted by telephone (01823 285928), by email ( or by letter (King’s Hall School, Kingston Road, Taunton, Somerset TA2 8AA).

To arrange a visit to King’s Hall School please telephone the Admissions team. Parents will be shown around the school by the Headmaster. Parents are welcome to bring their child along with them to this appointment. A visit to our senior school, King’s College, can also be arranged for those parents who would like their son/daughter to transfer there at the end of Year 8.

Boys and girls may be registered for entry to King’s Hall at any age. The registration form should be completed and returned, together with a non-refundable registration fee of £75. On receipt of the registration form and registration fee parents are sent a letter offering a place, together with an acceptance form. The acceptance deposit is required at this stage.

Before entry, pupils joining in Years 5 – 8 are assessed in English, Maths and Verbal Reasoning: these assessments are based on national curriculum work and as they are standardised tests they do not require any special preparation. Parents are also asked to share any Educational Psychologist reports etc. Scholarships are available for 11 + entry.

The term before entry all pupils joining in Years 1 – 8 are invited to spend a ‘welcome day’ at King’s Hall. Pupils joining in Years 1 – 4 will be informally assessed during their ‘welcome day’. Pupils joining in Nursery and Reception are invited to come along to induction sessions with their parents.

Before entry parents will be sent a parents’ handbook and a welcome letter from the Headmaster detailing their child’s class and form tutor.
