King’s Hall sporting duo Maisie Everett (Year 7) and Maya Penn (Year 6) have started the Summer Term on a high note after receiving Achievement Awards by the GLL Sports Foundation.

The GLL Sports Foundation is one of the largest independent athlete support schemes, helping promising young athletes to achieve their sporting potential. The foundation, which was launched in 2008, has nurtured a number of big sporting names, including British diver, Tom Daley.

Based on their results at this year’s Leon Paul National Junior Series and the England Youth Championships, Maisie and Maya have qualified for the 2018/19 Achievement Award. The unique prize provides the holder with a financial award of up to £250, an athlete training membership and additional sports performance support.

Director of Sport, Rob Holman said: “This a wonderful achievement for both the girls and a well-deserved reward for their dedicated and determined attitude towards fencing. They have inspired a whole new raft of fencers and the future is looking bright for fencing at King’s Hall.”
