“We have had the most wonderful 13 years at King’s Hall. This is indeed a very special place”

King's Hall School
We are a leading Pre-Prep and Prep school for girls and boys from 2 to 13 years old, with around 320 pupils. Set in a beautiful countryside location surrounded by farmland, the school is only a couple of minutes' drive from the centre of Taunton.
We respect traditional values and boarding is a strong feature, which contributes to the real family atmosphere that exists in the school. Children enjoy a challenging all-round education in a progressive and stimulating environment.
King's Hall is one of the Woodard Schools, a group of 40 member schools whose approach is based on the principles of the Church of England. Our senior school King's College, Taunton is also a member and the two schools benefit from having their own independent sites, furnished with excellent age appropriate facilities and attitudes to maximise the opportunities for the children in our care. The vast majority of our pupils move on to King's College at age 13.
"The Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) is a schools association with around 650 of the world’s leading prep schools in membership.
Schools must reach a very high standard to be eligible for membership, with strict criteria on teaching a broad curriculum, maintaining excellent standards of pastoral care and keeping staff members’ professional development training up to date.
Although each of our schools is independent, and has its own ethos, they are all committed to delivering an excellent, well-rounded education to the pupils in their care.
We believe that schools should be unfettered by government interference and with fewer financial and other resourcing constraints than state schools, to ensure that their educational provision is tailored to the needs of the individual children."IAPS website
The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) assesses all independent schools and gives ratings for several categories. King's Hall School recently underwent an ISI Regulatory Compliance Inspection.
The report is a brief but crucial document confirming that we are fully compliant with the Independent School Standards Regulations, the National Minimum Standards for Boarding Schools and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Regulations.
Whilst the report is necessarily formal, the Reporting Inspector was fulsome in his verbal praise for the team’s experience with us. He commented that our level of preparedness in advance of the inspection was very high and he sensed that this was the norm rather than standing to attention for inspection.
They were particularly taken by our openness and full engagement with the process whilst they were on site. They found the teachers, support staff and children to be not only fully aware of the necessary procedures and protocols but also strong advocates for their school.
