Another stunningly beautiful day here heralds the start of half term ahead whilst this week’s edition of our Prep Newsletter looks back at the action from the past 7 days.
It is so easy to ask “where has the time gone?”, especially as it can feel that the term only started yesterday! The weekly Newsletters are, though, the reassuring evidence of the enormous amount of work, play and general endeavour that the children have covered when here at school. To me, one really positive source of evidence that the weeks do not simply evaporate into thin air is when children proudly bring me their work for an HMC. Delving into their books during this first session of the year, I can see not only the sheer volume of work they have produced, but also the quality and depth of the learning that has taken place across such a wide range of topics.
A quick, but significant, thank you must go to the Friends of King’s Hall Committee for their work in making last Friday’s Pop-Up Thai Restaurant such a success. The evening, of course, would not have been possible at all without the brilliant cooking of Fon Cosens. Fon and her team produced a superb feast from under their gazebo whilst Paddy Magill of Vine Wine made the liquid refreshments available. Many thanks to all for a very amiable, genial and convivial evening.
When we return after half-term there will be a new face as part of the School Office crew: Tess Spurr joins us as our afternoon Receptionist/School Secretary. I know she will be welcomed warmly by all and I hope she quickly enjoys being part of one of the oh-so-crucial teams that keep the King’s Hall show on the road. Another exciting change after half term is that the construction team for the Science Faculty will be on site as the build phase gets underway behind the West Wing. To date, it has been commented that the children are trying to turn the hole in the ground into the World’s Largest Ball Pit!
I do hope you all find plenty of time to enjoy your family’s company over the next fortnight before returning for the second half of term as we move inexorably towards the end of the calendar year. There is the sumptuously rich tapestry of tradition on offer ahead as we will move through Remembrance, Bonfire Night, Advent and on to Carol Services, Nativities and Christmas – there, I said it!
