“Oh I wish it could be Christmas everyday….” – well it will be in Pre-Prep for these last two weeks of term and we couldn’t be happier! The Pre-Prep elves worked hard over the weekend to transform classrooms into Christmas wonderlands. We have more tinsel, foil, lights and garlands than Chaplins! The wide-eyed, smiling faces of children (and their parents), along with many squeals of excitement, as they arrived this morning made all the effort worthwhile. There are also the obligatory staff Christmas jumpers which have become tradition (and mandatory) over the past couple of years as we go the extra mile to embrace the festive fun of the season.
Rehearsals begin in earnest for the Nativity play which demanded I spent most of the weekend in my dancing shoes working out the choreography. I have to admit it is a bit of an annual guilty pleasure made even more exciting this year due to the Strictly Come Dancing theme. I have Tangoed, Line danced, Morris danced, Ballet danced and Discoed for many fun-filled hours around the house, much to the amusement of my family!
I know the children are going to have a wonderful end of term where lessons will continue in between all the merriment of the season, and special memories will be made along the way. However, as much as we all LOVE the excitement, we are also very passionate about making sure the children understand the true meaning of Christmas and endeavour to balance the glitter and sparkles with the greatest story ever told.
