Today we celebrated what would have been Roald Dahl’s 100th Birthday with a ‘Dahlicious Dress Up Day’. Our wonderful parents supported their children fantastically evident in the magnificent array of costumes on display. Crocodiles, Matildas, BFGs, Witches, Fantastic Foxes, Charlie Bucketts, Golden Tickets, Oompa Loompas, Miss Honeys, Veronica Salts, Esio Trotts, Sophies, Muggle Wumps, James and his Peach and Roly-Poly Birds were represented well and the children loved finding out more about their chosen characters through the course of the day.
I do believe a childhood is not complete without having met Roald Dahl’s characters. His mastery at describing them with the most vivid of word choices ensure they stay with you throughout your lifetime and make it impossible not to keep handing them down to the next generation.
We certainly had lots of ‘gobblefunking’ around with words today and also enjoyed making our lovely thoughts shine out of our faces like sunbeams!
